SPONSORS

Sai Aashray Trust, Jaipur

Mr. Jay Arora from the Sai Ashray Trust in Jaipur have generously funded the "Marudhara to Himalaya" initiative, aiming to train the next generation of glaciologists in the region. This initiative underscores the region's responsibility to better understand changes in the Himalayas. The Sai Ashray Trust, also known as Shri Sai Baba Aashray Trust, is a non-profit organization based in Jagatpura, Jaipur, dedicated to alleviating hunger and malnutrition among underprivileged children by providing daily nutritious meals. Beyond addressing immediate nutritional needs, the trust fosters holistic development by organizing activities such as dance, craft sessions, yoga, and workshops to teach healthy habits and essential skills. The trust also emphasizes environmental conservation, with initiatives like planting over 10,000 trees as part of a mission to plant one crore trees globally. Additionally, the trust supports education through projects like Shikshalaya, which offers high-quality education to underprivileged children, aiming to instill critical thinking and self-sufficiency for a brighter future. The Sai Ashray Trust's multifaceted approach reflects its commitment to nurturing hope and creating a better future for underprivileged communities in Jaipur.

International Glaciological Society

The IGS partially funded the LIGSS-2025 and LIGSS-2026.

The International Glaciological Society (IGS) is a leading global organization dedicated to advancing the study of snow and ice. It supports scientific exchange through journals, conferences, and thematic workshops. IGS plays an active role in promoting education by supporting premier training programs such as the Alaska Summer Glaciology School, Karthaus Summer School, and the McCarthy program. Through such efforts, it helps build capacity among early-career researchers and strengthens global collaboration in cryospheric science. (More information: https://www.igsoc.org/)

Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills

The IGS partially funded the LIGSS-2026.

The Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (HK-dir) plays a pivotal role in fostering international academic partnerships and educational exchange. It supports collaborative initiatives that bring together institutions from Norway and partner countries to advance research and higher education. One such meaningful collaboration is between the University of Bergen (UiB) and the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee), focusing on cryosphere research. This partnership brings together Norwegian expertise in glaciology and polar climate with Indian capabilities in Himalayan cryospheric studies, enabling joint fieldwork, student exchanges, and shared data analysis on glacier dynamics, snow hydrology, and climate change impacts in high-mountain regions. Anusandhan National Research Foundation

The IGS partially funded the LIGSS-2026.

The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), Government of India, is dedicated to fostering cutting-edge research and innovation across scientific disciplines. It catalyzes collaborative research initiatives that strengthen India's scientific capabilities while building international partnerships. ANRF actively supports programs in earth sciences and climate research, including studies on cryospheric systems in the Himalayan region. Through strategic funding and coordination, it facilitates joint research endeavors between Indian institutions and leading global centers, such as collaborations on glacier dynamics, snow hydrology, and climate change impacts in high-mountain environments. By championing such initiatives, ANRF contributes to advancing India's scientific excellence and deepening international cooperation in addressing critical climate and environmental challenges.
